What Are Bath Salts?

Basically bath salts are water-soluble, pulverised minerals designed to be dissolved in warm bath water for the purpose of softening the skin, soothing sore muscles and providing aromatherapy stress relief.

Why Should I Use Bath Salts?

Typically made from epsom salts, Himalayan salts or magnesium chloride with extra ingredients added depending upon the suggested use of the blend they are primarily used to soothe sore muscles, relieve stress and soften dry skin. As you soak minerals like magnesium are easily absorbed through the skin. Key wellness benefits include:

Muscle & Joint Relief

Warm salt baths help relax tight muscles, ease cramps and reduce stiffness in overworked legs, feet and joints.

Stress & Sleep Support

The magnesium in bath salts calms the nervous system, while added aromatherapy (like lavender) promotes relaxation making it easier to fall asleep.

Skin Health

Bath salts act as a gentle exfoliant, removing dead skin cells. They are also used to calm and moisturise dry or irritated skin conditions like eczema.

Detoxification & Circulation

Soaking in warm salt water increases blood flow and assists your body’s natural toxin removal processes. From a spiritual perspective salt baths are an awesome way to detox your energy from negativity picked up through out your day.

Note: If you have open wounds, diabetes or very sensitive skin, consult your doctor/dermatologist before taking a mineral bath

Why Should I Use This Formula?

I love soaking in a bath, I especially love the addition of salts and bubbles, it not only has physical benefits as it’s known that warm baths lower cortisol (the stress hormone) but it’s my reset time, a recharge and something I do for myself every day so I put a lot of work into creating the perfect formulas.

This formula is indulgent and luxurious, it’s my personal favourite;

Salt Blend

I use a blend of magnesium chloride flakes, Epsom salt, pink Himalyan salt and Dead Sea Salt. Epsom Salts soothe sore muscles, ease joint inflammation and promote relaxation. Magnesium chloride replenishes your magnesium levels through transdermal absorption. It is highly prized for relieving muscle aches, soothing joint pain and improving sleep quality. It also hydrates the skin barrier and reduces inflammation from conditions like eczema or acne.

Himalayan salts contain 84 trace minerals, this mineral-rich salt helps to open pores, supports skin hydration and can provide relief for irritated skin conditions like eczema or psoriasis. Dead sea salt is included for its unique, mineral-rich composition (containing high levels of magnesium, potassium and calcium). Soaking in this salt naturally exfoliates the skin, improves hydration, soothes inflammation and relaxes sore muscles.

Milk Powder

Available in 3 milk options:

BUTTERMILK is packed with lactic acid which helps to dissolve dead skin cells to reveal a brighter, smoother and more radiant complexion. The natural milk fats plump and hydrate the skin, making it an excellent remedy for dryness and irritation. Its soothing and calming properties help to soothe irritated skin and is often used to relieve symptoms associated with eczema and psoriasis. It naturally creates a milky, spa-like bathwater that turns an ordinary soak into a deeply relaxing sensory experience.

COCONUT MILK creates a luxurious, hydrating soak that softens skin, soothes irritation and melts away stress. Rich in natural fatty acids and saturated fats, it moisturises dry skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis. Coconut milk contains naturally occuring lauric acid, which helps dissolve proteins and gently slough off dead skin cells. It boasts anti-inflammatory properties that calm sensitive skin and offer relief from sunburns. Added to warm water coconut’s natural aroma helps activate your parasympathetic nervous system, easing tension.

GOATS MILK creates a luxurious, hydrating soak that gently exfoliates, softens skin and relieves inflammation. It contains naturally occuring lactic acid (an AHA) that breaks down dead skin cells without scrubbing. The fats and proteins in goat’s milk are highly moisturising making it highly effective for treating dry, itchy or eczema-prone skin. It is packed with vitamins A, B6, B12 and E which help nourish the skin barrier. Its pH-balancing and anti-bacterial properties calm redness and can help clear up body acne.

Colloidal Oats

Create a milky, protective soak. They work by coating the skin to lock in moisture, balancing pH levels and fighting inflammation. They soothe itching and irritation from eczema, dermatitis, insect bites, poison ivy and hives. It contains natural anti-inflammatory compounds (avenanthramides) that reduce redness and swelling. The starches and beta-glucans in the oats act as an emollient, forming a moisture-retaining barrier.

Cocoa Butter

This acts as a deeply hydrating spa-like treatment. As it melts in the warm water it releases rich, conditioning oils that coat your skin, lock in moisture and leave you so soft you won’t even need a body lotion afterwards (unless you want too). Rich in fatty acids it penetrates the skin to combat dryness, flakiness and irritation. It creates a protective, natural barrier on your skin that seals in the moisture from the bathwater and other ingredients. Its slight chocolatey scent can help to relieve stress and elevate your mood.

Oil Blend

Jojoba oil deeply moisturises your skin, locks in hydration and acts as a gentle, protective barrier. Because it is technically a liquid wax that closely mimics your skin’s natural oils, it leaves you feeling soft and smooth without a greasy residue. It contains vitamins A, D and E along with omegas 6 and 9, which calm redness, windburn, sunburn and skin flare-ups. It is completely hypoallergenic and non-comedogenic making it safe and nourishing for all ages and skin types even sensitive.

Shea oil deeply hydrates, softens and soothes dry or irritated skin. As a rich emollient, it coats the skin in a protective, nourishing layer that locks in moisture, repairs the skin barrier and naturally eases inflammation from conditions like eczema. High in oleic and stearic fatty acids it closely mimics your skin’s natural oils which prevents moisture loss while you soak. Vitamins A, E and F help leave your skin feeling silky and can gradually improve the appearance of stretch marks and scars over time. Its natural anti-inflammatory properties help reduce redness and relieve itchy skin.

Kaolin Clay

Acts as a mild, skin-softening additive that gently detoxifies and cleanses your skin. It draws out everyday pollutants, dirt and toxins from your pores. Rich in silica, it calm redness, inflammation and helps soothe dry skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis. It acts as a natural, non-abrasive exfoliant that removes dead skin cells, leaving the body feeling silky and smooth.

Hyaluronic Acid

Acts as a super-hydrator. Because it is a powerful humectant that holds up to 1,000 times its weight in water, it draws moisture from the bath water and binds it to your skin. This plumps the skin, smooths texture and creates a dewy, youthful glow. It prevents the water loss that usually occurs after a hot bath. It temporarily fills out fine, dry lines and makes skin feel firmer and fortifies the skin’s moisture barrier, reducing redness and irritation.

How Do I Use Bath Salts?

Fill your tub with comfortably warm (not hot) water. Pour in 1 -2 cups of your chosen bath salts and stir the water to help granules dissolve and disperse the active ingredients throughout the water. Get in and relax for 15-20 minutes so your skin has time to absorb the minerals and active ingredients.

It is recommended not to stay in the bath longer than 20 minutes and to avoid soaking in the bath as the water gets cold. Sitting in cooling water forces your body to expend energy to maintain its core temperature which can cause shivering and muscle tension completely voiding the relaxing benefits and ultimately making you feel much colder than when you first got in.
