Skincare is where it started... I've been a beauty therapist now for 29 years and I've seen so many products, fads and companies selling impossible dreams come and go. I've always gotten slightly annoyed at the industry for so blatantly crushing women's self-esteem and trying to turn a profit from insecurities. 

I'm a big believer in natural beauty, both from the products we use, but also feeling good about ourselves, instead of being scared of the aging process and trying to outrun it embracing it and being proud that we made it that far. A holistic approach to beauty is more my style. Every line and wrinkle tells a story, it's proof that you laughed, or cried or smiled, why do we want to erase it? It shows we have lived a full life, with all its ups and downs, windy corners and twists and turns. 

I believe what is more important is to love the skin we are in, to care for it and adjust/adapt to its changes but mostly self-love. Those wrinkles don't make you old, they came from smiles; the first time you saw your husband, watching your child take their first step, your puppy experiencing grass for the first time, they proved you loved, lived, laughed and were happy. You wouldn't erase the memories so why erase the proof they existed? 

Your skincare routine should be something you indulge in because it makes you feel good, investing that time in yourself because you are worth every second it takes to do something just for you. In a world that is so demanding of our time and energy taking those moments for yourself is so important. It's a reset, down-time, a recharge and most importantly don't avoid any extra wrinkles, smile at yourself in the mirror, appreciate your inner and outer beauty and acknowledge yourself for everything you have done today to make not just yourself feel good, but your husband, your family, your boss, you co-workers, that stranger on the street that looked like they needed a smile.

True beauty doesn't come from the lack of crinkles at the corners of your eyes but from the kindness that shines within them. Never forget you are perfect just the way you are, you are worth it and you deserve love, mostly from yourself.
